Prem Dilwala (Salman Khan) is a happy-go-lucky fellow who does Ram-Leela at Ayodhya in an extremely contemporary fashion and is a devout of Lord Rama. Prem heads to a flood relief camp where he meets Maithili (Sonam Kapoor) a princess and owner of an NGO named, Uphaar Trust. The two have funny moments together and Prem is smitten by her simplicity and makes sure to send donations to her trust. Prem’s close friend Kanhaiya (Deepak Dobriyal) is very much aware about his liking for Maithili, but doesn’t approve of it much knowing she is a princess of a huge clan. Prem learns that Maithili is travelling to a nearby town for her fiancee’s ‘Tilak’ ceremony and decides to go there and meet her. Her fiance, Yuvraaj Vijay Singh is a short tempered man and less of words and is facing huge family problems where his younger brother Ajay Singh (Neil Nitin Mukesh) and sisters, Chandrika (Swara Bhaskar) and Radhika (Aashika Bhatia) are indulged in property related issues with him. Things take a whirlwind turn when Ajay Singh plots to get Vijay out of the way by planning his accident. Vijay does not die but is kept in secret facility by Diwan Saab (Anupam Kher), a loyal worker to the king. He decides to disguise Prem as the would-be king for saving Vijay and for a good future of the kingdom. Will Prem solve all the problems of this family or get caught? Will Vijay survive? Will Maithili fall for Vijay or Prem?
