A daily wage worker dies after a life-size cut-out of a local politician falls on him. His body is respectfully cremated by his fellow Muslim community members. This action is questioned by few Hindu realists who claim the dead man to be of their community. Soon, a communal brouhaha ensues and the case is taken up by a sessions court. The judge demands proof of name, caste and if he was Muslim, a certificate of circumcision. When no evidence is brought to the court, a local policeman sets out to investigate, beginning with the politician. The leads to a startling revelation of stories.
