Based on the book Dongri to Dubai by noted journalist S. Hussain Zaidi, Shootout at Wadala brings back to life the first-ever official encounter between Isaac Bagwan, encounter specialist, and Dawood Ibrahim, an underworld don.
Sanjay Gupta’s Shootout at Wadala begins with a badly-wounded Manya Surve (Abraham) relating his life story to ACP Afaaque Baaghran (Anil Kapoor) in the back of a police van. A sincere, young college student, Manya, has just completed his exams and is waiting for his results when he is unfairly convicted of murder and sent to prison along with his brother Bhargav Surve (Vineet Sharma). Bhargav is killed by another prisoner Potya in prison during a fight. Munir (Tusshar Kapoor) rescues Manya from Potya and takes it on himself to train Manya into a skilled fighter. Manya and Munir escape from prison and land up in Mumbai, but not before Manya avenges his brother’s death by killing Potya. In Mumbai, Manya and Munir come across two brothers who reign over Mumbai’s underworld. While Zubair Imtiaz Haksar (Manoj Bajpai) takes an interest in Manya, Dilawar (Sonu Sood) does not approve of him. Manya and Munir decide to form their own gang and take on the well-known mafia dons on their own turf and needless to say, a violent saga unfolds. Kangna Ranaut plays Vidya Joshi, Manya’s love interest in the movie.
