A righteous priest is forced to leave his village by a cruel landlord. His son vows to take revenge and clear his father’s name. The landlord’s daughter falls in love with the hero and helps him in his quest.
Himmatwala opens with a humble priest forced to leave his village and family by a scheming landlord, Sher Singh (Mahesh Manjrekar). His son Ravi, (Ajay Devgan), who escapes to the city soon after, returns home to his mother Savitri after several years, and vows to avenge his father’s name. Meanwhile, Sher Singh’s daughter Rekha (Tamannah Bhatia) turns out to be as cruel as her father and sets a tiger loose on the village. When the same tiger turns on her, Ravi ends up saving her life. Rekha falls in love with Ravi and turns over a new leaf. Ravi’s sister Padma is in love with Sher Singh’s nephew, Shakti. Shakti’s father, Narayan Das (Paresh Rawal) and Sher Singh plot to get Padma married to Shakti so that they can control Ravi using her. When Rekha discovers their plan, she uses the same idea on her father and tells him that she is pregnant with Ravi’s child. At the end, Ravi's true identity is revealed. Sher Singh’s henchmen then attack Ravi, as he tries to battle for his life.
