Two friends, Jai and Omi, try to woo the same girl Seema. To their chagrin, Seema is attracted to their shy and timid friend Sid. They try all kinds of tricks to split the couple only to realize that Sid is in love with her.
Based on a 1981 movie of the same name, Chashme Buddoor has three friends, Sid (Ali Zafar), Jai (Siddharth) and Omi (Divyendu Sharma) as its main protagonists. Sid is shy and reserved while the other two are wily and unscrupulous. Beautiful Seema (Taapsee Pannu), who is trying to escape from a marriage arranged by her father, enters the picture, and needless to say, falls in love with the good guy. Meanwhile, Miss Josephine (Lillete Dubey as the boys’ landlady) and Joseph Furtado (Rishi Kapoor as a café-owner) are trying to set up their own love story. Both Jai and Omi become jealous and try to split the couple. They succeed in their devious tricks to part the lovebirds but realize their mistake when they come to understand the depth of Sid’s love for Seema. They try and unite the couple, albeit through a staged kidnapping scene, and all is well again. Seema’s father, who wants his daughter to marry an army officer, turns up at the end. Sid now has to convince Seema's father that he is the right match for his daughter.
