It is up to Jassi to win over the affections of Balwinder Singh to win the hand of his lady love Sukhmeet. But with Balwinder bent upon his life, Jassi has a mountainous task ahead.

The Randhawa and Singhs are modern day, Punjabi versions of the Montagues and Capulets. Sworn to remain enemies till eternity, their newest generation Jaswinder Randhawa (Ajay Devgan) and Balwinder Singh (Sanjay Dutt) have taken it upon themselves to continue this blood feud. While Jassi is hiding his time away abroad, Billu waits patiently in Punjab for Jassi to return so that he can finish what his ancestors started. Jassi, meanwhile is unemployed and poor and decides to come back to Punjab when he receives notifications that the government wants to buy his ancestral land. On the way back home, Jassi meets Sukhmeet (Sonakshi Sinha) and falls in love with her. When he reaches his village, he runs into Billu. But neither recognizes the other since they don’t know what the other looks like. Billu invites Jassi into his home as a guest. Jassi sees Sukhmeet and realises that she is Billu’s sister. Soon enough, the truth about their familial enmity crops up and identities are revealed. But the furthermost rule in the Singh household is that ‘Never should a guest be harmed’. Billu finds himself handcuffed by the principles of his family. He now devises various schemes to get Jassi to leave his house, but Jassi sees through it. It is now up to Jassi, to save his own neck, foil Billu’s plans and also win him over to secure Sukhmeet’s hand in marriage and ultimately lay rest to the feud between their families.
