The retelling of Shakespeare’s Hamlet taking place in modern day, crime-infested Uttar Pradesh.

Parma (Arjun Kapoor) is the rowdy grandson of a patriarch, the head of Chauhans family. Their sworn enemies in political and religious grounds are the Qureshis. Zoya (Parineeti Chopra), the hot-tempered scion of Qureshis always retorts violently when Parma makes chauvinistic potshots at her in college. Zoya and Parma incidentally fall in love as she gets charmed by his hunky bod and raw nature. After secretly marrying and instantly consummating it, Parma reveals that it was all a sham and he was taking revenge for once slapping him in front of a big crowd. A furious Zoya takes law onto her hands, buys a pistol and heads to Parma's residence to finish him. But she is stopped by Parma's widow mother Parvati (Natasha Rastogi) who is later shot at by Parma's grandfather for defending Zoya. Parma realizes his mistake and protects Zoya from his family. They try going to Zoya's father for relief but he ousts both of them and disowns Zoya for marrying a man from another religion. In an attempt to hide from the families, they get closer and this time, Parma feels for Zoya. As the going gets tougher, they try to leave the town. On the run and unable to fight the large gangs of their families, they decide to take their own lives and continue their love for each other in heaven.
