Shekhar is an ordinary man trying to fulfil his son’s wish. But, now it has unleashed an unstoppable evil. Has he something in store to defeat it or will it destroy everything he loves?
Shekhar (Shahrukh Khan) is a London-based game designer who is constantly trying to be a cool father. But his son Prateek (Armaan Verma) remains unimpressed by his video games. He desires a game in which the villain will remain undefeatable. Wanting to please his son, Shekhar designs a game in which the shape-shifting villain, Ra.One can only be destroyed by the protagonist G.One while he has a component called HART lodged into its cavity on his chest. At the launch party of the video game, Prateek is keen to play the game which Shekhar allows. Prateek calls his online self as Lucifer and nearly beats the game. While the adults are at the launch party, Ra.One develops its own sentient conscience and breaks out of the game in search of Lucifer to beat him. He finds Shekhar to say he is Lucifer to protect his son. Ra.One kills him but realises that Shekhar wasn’t Lucifer. After Shekhar’s funeral, Prateek and his mother (Sonia) decide to relocate to India. On the way to the airport, they are waylaid by Ra.One. He nearly kills them in a car pileup when G.One saves them. Turns out, G.One, too, has surfaced in the real world with Shekhar’s face. He manages to disintegrate Ra.One, collects his HART and travels to India with Prateek and Sonia. Ra.One (Arjun Rampal) follows the family to India and manages to conquer Sonia’s conscience and kidnaps to Prateek. In the resulting fight, Ra.One, G.One and Prateek are transferred back into the virtual game world. Ra.One attaches his HART to himself and replicates himself into 10 copies to confuse and destroy G.One. He fails when Prateek identifies the real Ra.One because of his shadow. G.One kills Ra.One but has to disintegrate himself to protect Prateek. Six months later, Prateek is seen hard at work to re-generate G.One into the real world.
