Plot

Dayal Singh (Jackie Shroff) is a widowed farmer living in Palheri in the district of Chandigarh. After witnessing the exploitation of several of his fellow farmers by the Zamindars, Dayal decides to send his elder son, Aman (Arbaaz Khan) to study in the city and become a lawyer, while his second son, Jiggar (Sohail Kahn) would assist him in farming. Years later, the district gets a visit from an industrialist who wants to buy the farm and turn it into a commercial area. He is met with huge opposition from the locales and Aman returns home and is able to join hands with his father and brother in their battle. Things take a turn for the worse when Jiggar is arrested for assault and even though Aman defends him, he is sentenced to five years in prison. When Jiggar returns from the prison, he realises that things have become worse. His father is in very poor health and bed-ridden and several of the farmers having committed suicide. Meanwhile Aman has joined his hands with the industrialist and they have been putting pressure on Dayal as well as other farmers to sell their land. Will things improve or will they have to give up their lands to the industrialist?
