A young man has to prove his worth before he can marry the woman of his choice.

Karan (Alok Nath), a poor mechanic, hands the responsibility of taking care of his pretty daughter Suman (Bhagyashree) to his best friend Kishan (Rajeev Verma). Convinced that Kishan's joint family will be a good environment for his daughter, who grew up without a mother, Karan leaves for Dubai. Kishan's adolescent son Prem (Salman Khan) quickly grows a liking to Suman, and approaches her with a hand of friendship. The coy and sweet-natured Suman reciprocates Prem's requests. Time passes by and both find that they have fallen for each other. However, this news is received rather poorly by Prem's father who opposes him marrying Suman. When Karan returns from Dubai, even he disapproves of their relationship, causing him to take Suman to his own house. Unable to bear the separation, Prem leaves his house and pleads Karan to let him marry his daughter. After much persuasion, Karan agrees, but with one condition: Prem should prove that he can support Suman by his own means and efforts. Will Prem, who has been pampered all his life, be able to satisfy the condition? Will Prem and Suman unite?
