Biography

Vivek Oberoi is an Indian actor. He won many awards for his debut film Company (2002) including the Filmfare Best Debut Award and Best Supporting Actor Award. He won the IIFA Best Villain Award, Stardust Standout Performance of the Year Award and Stardust Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role for his role in the film Shootout at Lokhandwala(2008) and IIFA Green Global Award(2010). Career: Oberoi made his debut with Ram Gopal Varma’s Company for which he received two Filmfare Awards. He next starred in action films, Road and Dum which were not major hits. His next film Saathiya(2002) was a big hit. In 2006, Oberoi starred in Omkara, the adaptation of Shakespeare’s play Othello for which his performance was praised. In 2007, he acted in the multi- starrer Shootout at Lokhandwala in which his performance was much appreciated. His other films include Masti(2004), Yuva(2004) and Kisna: The Warrior Poet(2005), Mission Istaanbul(2008), Kurbaan(2009), Prince(2010), Rakht Charitra(2010) among many others. He also starred as the Villain in Rakesh Roshan’s ambitious Super Hero flick Krrish 3. Oberoi produced a film “Watch Indian Circus” in 2011 which was featured in the 16th Busan Film festival and won the Audience Choice Award for Best Film amongst 380 films that were screened. It was the first Indian film to win this prestigious award in the history of Busan. Oberoi does a lot of philanthropic activities and is involved with several charities. He and his family founded The Yashodhara Oberoi Foundation(YOF). He was awarded the Red and White Bravery Award in 2006. He serves as the anti- tobacco spokesperson for World Health Organization. He received the Good Samaritan Award from Rotary International for his work with Project Hope to bring relief to victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. Personal Life: Vivek is the son of famous character actor Suresh Oberoi. He married Priyanka Alva, daughter of Karnataka minister Jeevaraj Alva in 2010. They have a son, Vivaan Veer Oberoi.
