V. Manikandan is a leading Indian cinematographer who has worked in numerous films in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam and has worked for over 3000 ad films. He received the Filmfare Best Cinematographer Award for the film Anniyan. Originally from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, V. Manikandan is a leading cinematographer and has some major box office hits in Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil. Before feature film cinematography, he got acclaim as an ad film cinematographer and has more than 3000 ad films to his credit. In Bollywood, he started as an associate camera operator in Major Saab (1998), and debuted as a cinematographer with Kuch Naa Kaho (2003). He then went to work in many Bollywood films like Main Hoon Na (2004), Bluffmaster (2005), Om Shanti Om (2007), Raavan (2010), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) among others. He won the Filmfare Best CInematographer Award for the epic Tamil film Anniyan (2005). He was also nominated for Asia Pacific Cine Awards (APSA) for his work in Raavan/Raavanan (2010). He won the Best Cinematography Award at the 9th Annual Central European Bollywood Awards in 2012 for his work in Ra.One (2011). He made his debut as a director with Tamil romance film Chikku Bukku (2010). His elder brother, V. Jeevananthan is a painter and a national awardee for his book on cinema ‘Theeraichilai’.
