Biography

Tanvi Azmi is an Indian film and television actress who is known for her roles in Darr, Akele Hum Akele Tum and Dushman. Tanvi is the daughter of Marathi-Hindi actress Usha Kiran and Dr. Manohar Kher. She earned fame and success by portraying the character of a troubled doctor in the television series, Jeevanrekha – Lifeline (1991). Tanvi has acted in various Marathi and Hindi films and Marathi television serials. She made her acting debut as a young widow in a telefilm Rao Saheb (1986) which was directed by Vijaya Mehta. She also acted in Malayalam film Vidheyan (1993), opposite Mammootty. It was directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan. Her critically acclaimed performance in the film Akele Hum Akele Tum (1995) earned her a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. Some of her other films include Darr (1993), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), Bobby Jasoos (2014), Dekh Tamasha Dekh (2014) and Aarakshan (2011). Tanvi is married to Baba Azmi who is a famous cinematographer and brother of actress and social activist Shabana Azmi.
