Swara Bhaskar is a Bollywood actress who came to prominence with supporting roles in Tanu Weds Manu, Raanjhanaa and Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Swara Bhaskar was born and brought up in Delhi, to a father who was a Telugu naval officer and a cinema-study teaching Bihari mother. While studying English literature and graduating with Masters in Sociology at Jawaharlal Nehru University, she performed with N.K. Sharma’s “Act One” theater group. In 2008, She shifted to Mumbai to pursue her career in acting. Her debut was an independent film, Madholal Keep Walking (2009). However she gained recognition for her role in the Kangana Ranaut starrer, Tanu Weds Manu (2011) also earning her several award nominations, garnering Best Supporting Actress award in Zee Cine Awards. Her role in Dhanush-Sonam starrer Raanjhanaa (2013) was widely praised and was well received. After small roles in Listen..Amaya (2013) and Aurangzeb (2013), she reprised her role of Priya in Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015), the sequel to Tanu Weds Manu (2011), earning further appreciation which was followed by winning the Best Actress Award at a film festival in China for her role in the film, Nil Battey Sannata. Her future projects include roles in Mango (2015) and Salman Khan starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015)
