Biography

Suparn Verma is an Indian writer, director and a well reputed entertainment journalist. He has several writing credits to his name, including Chhal, Janasheen and Qayamat. He made his directorial debut with Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena in 2005. Suparn Verma was born in Mumbai in 1974. He is a self-professed movie buff and has a wide collection of movie memorabilia. He is the son of writer, Sudarshana Dwivedi. Before turning into a filmmaker, Suparn Verma worked as a senior producer for rediff.com, organizing chat rooms and events across the country. During this time, he also started his own recording studio for web radio. He was also an eminent film journalist. As a screenwriter, his first credit was for the story and screenplay of Chhal in 2002. He worked as a screenwriter in several other productions, including Feroz Khan’s Janasheen (2003). His first directorial venture, Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena in 2005, also starred the father-son duo of Feroz and Fardeen Khan. The movie, however, couldn't get past a lukewarm opening and it bombed. Suparn Verma’s next movie, Acid Factory (2009), was better received. He followed that up with a psychological thriller, Aatma, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bipasha Basu in 2013. His latest project is directing a segment in the upcoming film X: Past is Present (2015).
