Subhash Kapoor is an Indian film director, producer and screenwriter. He is best known for his satire Phas gaya Re Obama and the courtroom comedy Jolly LLB. Subhash Kapoor completed his MA in Hindi literature. Before making an entry in Bollywood, he worked as a political journalist and made a few short films. Kapoor made his debut in Hindi cinema as a director with the movie Say Salaam India (2007), which bombed at the Box Office. In spite of this failure, he went onto direct his second movie Phas Gaye Re Obama (2010), a satire, which received positive reviews from both critics and other viewers. Kapoor’s third film as a director was the courtroom comedy drama film Jolly LLB (2013) starring Boman Irani, Arshad Warsi, Amrita Rao and Saurabh Shukla. The movie did exceptionally well at the Box Office. Jolly LLB bagged the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi language. He also received the Filmfare Award for the best story for the same. Kapoor’s next directorial venture is the film Guddu Rangeela starring Arshad Warsi, Amit Sadh, Ronit Roy and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead, which is based on the Manoj-Babli honour killing case. Kapoor has been brought on-board to direct the Munnabhai series movie, Munnabhai Chale Delhi, which is to be produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
