Shweta Venkat is an Indian editor who is best known for editing the critically acclaimed film, Gangs of Wasseypur. In 2004, Venkat edited a short film called Bombay Summer and gained recognition for her technical skills. She proceeded to edit a number of short films and documentaries like The Mole (2008), Supermen of Malegaon (2008), Karma (2009) and Tubelight Ka Chaand (2010). She stepped into Bollywood as the editor with That Girl in the Yellow Boots, in 2010. She rose to stardom with Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). It took Venkat a full year to edit both the parts and the result was worth the hard work when the film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Her last project was her husband, writer-director Vinil Matthew’s directorial debut Hasee Toh Phasee (2014). Shweta’s next project is Karan Anshuman’s Bangistaan, which will be releasing on 31st July, 2015. She is married to Vinil Matthew and the couple has two kids Kiaan and Liam.
