Biography

Shraddha came to the limelight when she debuted with the Shahenshah of Bollywood – Amitabh Bachchan in Teen Patti. Since her debut, she has been seen in very different films which have only added more feathers to her cap. Shraddha Kapoor is the daughter of actors Shakti Kapoor and Shivangi Kolhapure Kapoor. Born in Mumbai, she is the niece of actress Padmini Kolhapure and director Tejaswini Kolhapure and she is the grandniece of singers Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar. She completed her schooling from Jamnabai Narsee School and then went to the American School of Bombay for further studies. Shraddha Kapoor made her debut with the film Teen Patti (2010) for which she earned a nomination in the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut category. She was also ranked No.5 on FHM’s list of“100 Sexiest Women In The World 2013″. After her debut, she went on to star in the romantic comedy Luv ka The End (2011), where she played a teenager who is on a mission with her girlfriends to teach her cheating ex-boyfriend a lesson. The film earned her positive feedback from the critics. She signed a three film contract with Yash Raj Films, of which this was the first. However she broke her contract to star in the sequel to Aashiqui. The romantic musical drama Aashiqui 2 (2013), the sequel to the 1991 classic Aashiqui, proved to be her breakthrough in Bollywood. Her next venture was Mohit Suri’s Ek Villain (2014) where her performance of a terminally-ill girl was appreciated. She also sang a few songs from the film which went on to be chart busters of the year. She was also seen in Vishal Bhradwaj’s Haider (2014), an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, where she plays a journalist called Arshia, whose character is based on Ophelia. Her last film was ABCD 2 (2015) where she plays the role of a dancer who goes to Las Vegas along with others to participate in a hip hop competition. Her upcoming films include Baghi and Rock On 2. In addition to her acting career, Shraddha participates in stage shows and is a celebrity endorser for several brands like Lakmé, Wella, Gitanjali and Titan. Shraddha has been linked to her Aashiqui 2 co-star Aditya Roy Kapoor, and currently resides in Mumbai with her parents.
