Shilpa Shukla is an Indian film and theatre actor. She is best remembered for her negative, arrogant role in Yashraj films’ 2007 blockbuster, Chak De India. Recently she also appeared in the neo noir film, BA Pass, winning her a Filmfare Critics’ Choice Award. Career: Before her breakthrough in film, Shilpa Shukla did a bit of theatre. She had stints working with Director Arvind Gaur of the Asmita Theatre Group. Some of the better known plays she was a part of include Mahesh Dattani’s Final Solutions and Govind Deshpande’s Antim Diwas. Shilpa Shukla’s film debut happened with a Pakistani feature, Khamosh Paani in 2003, in which she co-starred with Kirron Kher. Within two years, she had her first Bollywood release in Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi. But her biggest career coup came with a much lauded role in the Shahrukh Khan-starrer, Chak De India, as the haughty Bindia Naik. The movie won several awards and so did Shilpa Shukla, at the Screen Awards for Best Supporting Actress. She was also nominated for a Filmfare Award for this film. She finally did win a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress after her noir thriller, BA Pass. Again, she won critical acclaim for a role in a successful movie. Personal Life: Shilpa Shukla is from Delhi, where she completed her education from Miranda House, University of Delhi. She is married to Mohit Tripathi, who was the Associate Director for BA Pass.
