Rana Daggubati is an Indian film actor, producer, visual effects coordinator and photographer. He is well known for his roles in Dum Maaro Dum and Baahubali: The Beginning. Born in Chennai to a film-oriented family, he learnt Industrial Photography from Film Institute (Chennai) after completing his schooling from Hyderabad. His father is the Telugu film producer Daggubati Suresh Babu. His grandfather, D. Ramanaidu, was also a producer and received the Padma Bhushan award for his contribution to Telugu cinema. Rana is the nephew of well-known actor Venkatesh and cousin of newcomer Naga Chaitanya. He produced the movie, A Bellyful of Dreams in 2006, which won the National Film Award for the Best Film in Telugu. Daggubati debuted as an actor, in South India, with the political thriller, Leader (2010), which was a blockbuster. He made his Bollywood debut with Dum Maaro Dum (2011) post which he was voted as 'The Most Promising Newcomer’ of 2011 and the 10th most desirable man in India in a Times of India poll. He played a professional killer in Nenu Naa Rakshasi (2011) which was a box office hit and appeared in Naa Ishtam (2012), to be sought again in Bollywood by Ram Gopal Varma for Department. In 2013, he played the lead in director Krish’s Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum. He also appeared in a cameo in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and debuted in the Tamil industry with Ajith Kumar's Arrambam. He played a negative character in S.S. Rajamouli’s Telugu blockbuster Bahubali: The Beginning (2015), one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. Starring an ensemble cast, it’s an epic historical film based on a dispute between two brothers spanning over two generations. His upcoming ventures include Tamil films Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada (2015) and the sequel to Bahubali (2015), named Bahubali: The Conclusion (2016).
