All rounder is a befitting aphorism for Rahul Bose. He is a versatile actor, screenwriter, director, social activist and a rugby player too. In 1999 he was nominated for Filmfare Award for Best performance for his negative role in the film ‘Thakshak’. At Singapore International Film festival in 2000 he received Best Actor Award. At the Palms Springs International Festival for 2003-04, Rahul won the Mani Kaul Award and Recognition for his film ‘Everybody says I’m Fine’. Mahesh Bhatt Spokesperson Award was given to him in 2005. In 2007 he bagged the Karamveer Puraskar Award and in 2008 the IBN Eminent CJ Award came his way. The 2009 was the Youth Icon Award for Social Justice and Welfare and he was nominated for Stardust Award for Best Actor in the same year for his role in ‘Shaurya’. In 2012 Rahul was chosen for Hakim Khan Award for National Integration.

The ‘English, August’ movie based on Upamanyu Chatterjee’s novel with the same title turned him into an actor. This film became very popular in international circuits. He also worked in plays and Television, as well while continuing acting in movies. He costarred with Naseerudin Shah in Bombay Boys. Rahul also worked in British Theater stints. He worked with Aparna Sen in a few myriad films and in Mr. and Mrs. Iyer he rendered brilliant performance opposite Konkona Sen Sharma. In Chameli, he costarred with Kareena Kapoor and this film was a hit. He worked in a few Bengali films, as well. He is a social worker as well, and heads an NGO, The Foundation. Personal life: Rahul was born on 27 July, 1967 to Rupen and Kumud Bose. When he was a child, the family moved to Mumbai from Kolkata. He studied in Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai and he took his graduation from Sydenham College. He used to spend his time learning boxing, doing theater and playing rugby. It is his mother who admitted him in boxing school.
