Biography

Mehaboob Nasser is an Indian film actor, director and producer, known for his characters in movies like Rowdy Rathore, Roja and Bombay. Nasser, who hails from Tamil Nadu, joined South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce's Film Institute, then Tamil Nadu Institute for Film and Television Technology, in 1982. He debuted as a supporting actor with Kalyana Agathigal (1985) and played the antagonist in Velaikaran (1987). His first film as a lead actor was Kavithai Paada Neramillai (1987), his claim to fame being Mani Ratnam's Nayakan (1987) where his performance as a police officer received nationwide acclaim. He debuted as a director with Avatharam (1995), a film based on the backdrop of a folk art troupe, followed by Devathai (1997). Nasser has appeared in more than 300 films. Some of his memorable performances were as a terrorist in Kuruthipunal (1995), a devout Hindu father in Mani Ratnam's Bombay (1995), a blind musician in Rajiv Menon's Minsara Kanavu (1997), a political leader in Mani Ratnam's Iruvar (1997), a pair of separated twins in S. Shankar's Jeans (1997) and the strict father in Em Magan (2006). Some of his other works were Pokiri (2006), Boss (2006), Don (2001), Singam (2010), Panchakshari (2010), Rajanna (2011), Rowdy Rathore (2012), Singam 2 (2013) and Bahubali: The Beginning (2015). His upcoming ventures include Bahubali: The Conclusion (2016) and Savaale Samaali (2015). Nasser is married to Kameela and they have three sons who are also actors.
