Manjot Singh is an Indian film actor. He made his debut as the teenaged conman, Lucky, in Dibakar Banerjee’s comic drama, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, for which he won rave reviews. Career: Manjot Singh almost missed his chance in Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, having been rejected by the casting director after the auditions. But Dibakar Banerjee was convinced and stepped in personally to make sure Manjot Singh got the part. His cameo portrayal of a young Abhay Deol captured everyone’s imagination, amidst generally positive reactions to the movie. Manjot Singh even won a Filmfare Critics’ Award for this role. Manjot Singh’s next film outing was as the lead character’s gung-ho friend, Maninder Singh, in Udaan. Though the movie got a good critical response, it flopped at the box office. But Manjot Singh continued to further his reputation with a supporting role in Shaitan, followed by his Punjabi film debut in Munish Sharma’s Pure Punjabi. In the meanwhile, Manjot Singh also appeared as a contestant on the reality TV show, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi Level 3. He was back in the Bollywood limelight with a supporting role in Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year in 2012. The movie was a massive hit, boosting the profiles of its young ensemble cast, including Manjot Singh. In Fukrey, he appeared in a lead role. The movie was a critical and commercial success; the latest in the wave of off-beat comedies that started with Oye Lucky Lucky Oye. Manjot Singh also featured in the Pk Palash-directed noir flick, What The Fish in 2013. The movie was hailed as novel but didn’t much of an impact. Personal Life: Manjot Singh was born in a Sikh family in New Delhi in 1992. His father is a businessman and it was he who set up his audition with the casting team of Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, at a time when Manjot Singh had no prior acting experience. He attended school at the prestigious Hillwoods Academy in New Delhi.
