Mahesh Bhatt is a noted Indian filmmaker and producer. Career - Mahesh Bhatt made his debut as a director, with the film ManzileinAurBhiHain in 1974. His next feature LahuKe Do Rang (1979) fared moderately at the box office, but bagged two Filmfare awards. His first major hit came with Arth (1982), when he turned to his personal life for inspiration. He continued to make critically acclaimed films such as Janam (1985) and Naam (1986). Saaransh (1984), Aashiqui (1990), Sadak (1991), Hum HainRahiPyarKe (1993), and Zakhm (1999) are some of his greatest hits, and maintained his prominence in the industry. Bhatt later turned to scriptwriting only, and in early 2000s, started producing films featuring different genres. He started with the thriller film Raaz in 2002 and continued to experiment with writing, often introducing budding directors. He is known for making both art films with realistic topics and commercial films which include a wide division of action, comedies and thrillers. Actors who have debuted with his films have had illustrious careers and have also won numerous awards. As a result, Bhatt is currently one of the most eminent producers of Bollywood. He is the co-owner of film production house Vishesh Films, with Mukesh Bhatt. He is a member of the advisory board of U.S. nonprofit organization TeachAIDS. He is also a writer. Personal Life - Mahesh Bhatt was born in Mumbai. He was married to Lorraine Bright, and has two children. His daughter Pooja Bhatt is a former actress and film producer, while his son Rahut Bhatt is an actor. He later married SoniRazdan in 1986, with whom he has two daughters. One of them is Alia Bhatt, a rising star in Bollywood. Bhatt is the uncle of Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi.
