Entrepreneur and producer, Madhu Mantena, is a well-known name in the industry for producing films like Lootera, Ugly and Queen. Hailing from Hyderabad, Madhu, is the first cousin of director Ram Gopal Verma. Mantena stepped into the industry at an early age when he created his own music label in his teens. Later, he sold it to the Supreme Recording Company and went on to establish Adlabs’ International Operations under the guidance of Manmohan Shetty. He also served as the Head of Film Production at Saregama Films and helped run Ram Gopal’s production house, Factory, which has produced hits like Bhoot (2003) and Sarkar (2005). He debuted as an individual producer in 2008, with the Aamir Khan starrer Ghajini. The film was a blockbuster and still remains one of the highest grossing films in Bollywood. He then went on to produce films like Rakht Charitra (2010), Autograph (2010), Rann (2010) and Mausam (2011). Mantena also co-founded the celebrity management company, KWAN, with Anirban Das Bahl, which later collaborated with Creative Artist Agency to form CAA KWAN. In 2007, Mantena founded the production house, Big Bang Media Pvt. Ltd. He then collaborated with Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas behl to set up Phantom Films. Under this banner, they have produced many successful films like Lootera (2013), Hasee Toh Phasee (2014). Ugly (2014), the national award winning Queen (2014), NH10 (2010) and Hunterrr (2015). Their latest venture is Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet (2015), starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. Their upcoming film is Shandaar (2015), which is set in the midst of a destination wedding. The young entrepreneur also set up a production house for ad films called Offroad Films. He has also earned a place in the Limca Book of Records for producing seven films, which released within a span of fifty days. Madhu was in a relationship with actress Nandana Sen but the couple parted ways in 2012. The producer recently got engaged to designer Masaba Gupta.
