Biography

Kabir Bedi is a television and film actor of Indian nationality who is known for his roles in films like Chakravyuh, Khoon Bhaari Maang and Taj Mahal. A Punjabi Sikh, Bedi graduated from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. He performed in plays like Shakespeare's Othello, Tughlaq, which is about a mad historical Indian king and he portrayed a self-destructive alcoholic in The Vultures. In London, he starred in The Far Pavilions. Beginning with Hulchul (1971), he has acted in over 60 Bollywood films including Kachche Dhaage (1973), Khoon Bhari Maang (1988), Kurbaan (1991), Main Hoon Na (2004), Taj Mahal (2005), Blue (2009), Kites (2010) and Chakravyuh (2012). He played pivotal roles in The Beast of War (1988), Andata Ritorno and in Octopussy (1983), he played the villain's aid, thus becoming the only Bollywood actor to have appeared in a James Bond movie. Bedi was an acclaimed star of the American series Forbidden Territory, On Wings of Eagles and Red Eagle and has to his credit, European flick Sandokan and Italian series, Un Medico in Famiglia. He starred in The Bold and the Beautiful, the second most-watched show in the world. On Indian television, he hosted Director's Cut (a 13-part special series interviewing the country's leading directors) and Guns and Glory: The Indian Soldier & Vandemataram. Among several other awards, he also received the highest ranking civilian honour of the Italian Republic, the title of "Cavaliere" (Knight). In addition to films, Bedi also works in television, stage, radio, and literature. He is also a firm supporter of Burma’s freedom struggle. Kabir’s upcoming films include Dilwale (2015) and Mohenjo Daro (2016). He was married to Protima Bedi, an Odissi dancer. Their daughter Pooja Bedi is a former actress and magazine/newspaper columnist. The couple also had a son called Siddharth, who committed suicide in 1997. He later married British-born fashion designer Susan Humphreys. Their son, Adam Bedi is an international model. In the late 90s, Bedi married TV and radio presenter Nikki Bedi. They had no children, and divorced in 2005. Bedi has since been in a relationship with British born Parveen Dusanj.
