He joined the Aam Admi party in March 2014 and is now an active politicain. He won the IIFA Best Comedian Award for Salaam Namaste in 2006.

Biography

Javed Jaffrey is an Indian actor, dancer, comedian and impressionist. He has had a long and illustrious career in the Indian entertainment industry. Jaaved co-founded and judged India’s first dance reality show Boogie Woogie which has been in existence for 15 years and has broken many records. He joined the Aam Admi party in March 2014 and is now an active politicain. He won the IIFA Best Comedian Award for Salaam Namaste in 2006. Career Javed Jaffrey made his acting debut in 1985 with Meri Jung. He has acted in over 30 films till date, with international appearances. He made his mark in Hindi cinema when he caricatured the role of ‘taporis’, the local name given to the hoodlums of Bombay. In addition to acting, he is known for his versatility as a performer – he is a dancer, singer, choreographer, VJ and an MC. He is also a filmmaker. He has performed over 200 live shows and has shared the stage with Michael Jackson, Sting, Spice Girls and Queen amongst others. He has also hosted award shows on multiple occassions, the most notable being Filmfar, SCREEN and IIFA. In the 1990’s with the launch of Channel V, Jaaved was given the opportunity to showcase his comic talent. He was the anchor for two cult shows Timex Timepass and Videocon Flashback. His performance in the song ‘Mumbhai’ from the film Bombay Boys, become a raging success and obtained cult status amoung the youth. Jaaved had conceived, written and coreographed the entire song. He has also dubbed characters for Disney such as Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Don Karnage in Hindi. Not only has he played a pivotal role in cinema, but also in advertising as a model, choreographer, copywriter, producer and director. His most notable commercial is the Maggi tomoto ketchup advertisment. Personal Life: Jaaved Jaffrey was born on 4 December 1963 in Mumbai. He is the only son of Syed Jawaher Ali Jaffrey (aka film actor Jagdeep). He went to school at St. Theresa’s and lives in Bandra. He has three chlidren, a daughter name Alaviaa and two sons name Mizaan and Abbas.
