Fawad Afzal Khan is a Pakistani film actor and singer. He rose to prominence with the Pakistani film Khuda Kay Liye (2007). He is often voted as one of the sexiest cinema personalities of Asia and debuted in Bollywood with Khoobsurat. Fawad Afzal Khan was born in Pakistan into a family, based in Lahore. Due to his father’s job, Fawad lived in many places like Athens, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Manchester and Riyadh before moving to Lahore at the age of thirteen. By the age of 20, Fawad Khan could play the guitar, bass and drums. He was also the lead singer of the band Entity Paradigm. After obtaining his A-Levels from Lahore Grammar School, he went on to complete a bachelor’s degree in software engineering from National Institute of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Lahore. When he was 17, he met with an accident that injured his pancreas, resulting in Diabetes Mellitus Type 1. His first brush with acting happened when he was in high school. Khan acted in a play, directed by his friend. Director Shehzad Anjum noticed his skills and introduced him to the industry. He debuted on television with the detective series Jutt and Bond. In 2007, Fawad Khan stepped into films with Khuda Kay Liye, which turned out to be a life-changer for him. The movie was a critical and commercial success and made him a star overnight. It also earned him the Lux Style Award for Best Film Actor. Serials like Humsafar and Satrangi made him a household name in Pakistan. In 2014, he forayed into Bollywood with Khoobsurat, where he was paired with Sonam Kapoor. The film was a commercial success and received mixed reviews but Fawad Khan’s performance was unanimously appreciated. Fawad quit his band in 2012 to focus on acting. While he was still a part of the band, he also wrote songs and performed on Coke Studio. He has walked the ramp for some of his friends in Pakistan and was recently made the brand ambassador of Indian brand Giovanni. He turned screenwriter for the telefilm Armaan (2013) and also co-produced it with 7th Sky Entertainment. Among brands, he has endorsed Pepsi, Lux, Aquafina, Olper’s Milk, Samsung Galaxy and others. His upcoming films in Bollywood include Kapoor and Sons (2016) and a cameo in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016). Apart from films, he regularly supports social causes across the globe. He supports charities like Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Islamic Relief, SOS Children’s Villages and was the brand ambassador of the WWF Earth Hour campaign. He married Sadaf Aftab in 2005 in an Islamic Wedding Ceremony after a courtship of 8 years. The couple is blessed with a son - Aayaan. They also launched a clothing brand together - SILK by Fawad Khan in 2012.
