Biography

Chandan Roy Sanyal is an Indian film actor associated with Bollywood and Bengali films and is best known for his performances in F.A.L.T.U. and D-Day. Born in New Delhi, India, Chandan was brought up in a Bengali family and completed his education from Zakir Hussain College, Delhi passing with an Honors Degree in Mathematics. After a notable appearance debut in the cult blockbuster, Rang De Basanti (2006), his breakthrough came with Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminey (2009), where his role of Mikhail was widely appreciated by critics as well as audience also earning him a Stardust Breakthrough Performance-Male Award nomination. His roles in Bengali films, Mahanagar@Kolkatta (2010) and Aparajita Tumi (2012) were also appreciated. Chandan got recognition starring as one of the leads in the commercially successful film, F.A.L.T.U (2011) followed by less successful but critically acclaimed roles in Staying Alive (2012), Midnight’s Children (2012) and Ganesh Talkies (2013). He also appeared in the ensemble cast critically successful film, D-Day (2013) followed by his first solo hero film, Prague (2013) which was a flop at the box office but acclaimed by critics. Chandan’s latest projects include role in films like Mango (2015) and Aishwarya Rai’s comeback film, Jazbaa (2015).
