Anu Malik is a veteran Indian music director and singer who is known for his hit songs over the years in Bollywood. With a career spanning over three decades, he has composed music for over 350 different genres of films. Born as Anwar Sardaar Malik, to veteran music director Sardar Malek, Anu made his debut as a music composer with the film Hunterwali (1977). He wrote hit scores for various successful films like Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee (1993), Baazigar (1993), and Jaanam (1992). He is also the recipient of the National Award and Filmfare Special Jury Award for his music for J.P. Dutta's Refugee (2000). He also earned the Filmfare Best Music Director Award for Main Hoon Na (2004) and Baazigar (1993). His songs ‘Yeh kaali kaali aankhen…’ and ‘Baazigar o baazigar…’ became the most popular songs of the year. Anu Malik continued giving many more chartbuster songs and sound-tracks. His music for Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Akele Hum Akele Tum (1995), Virasat (1997), Border (1997) etc. was very popular. Anu has been active on small screen television appearing on shows like Indian Idol, Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega. His future projects include film like Hera Pheri 3 (2016) and Border 2 (2016). Anu Malik is married to Anju Malik. The couple have two daughters.
