Biography

Aftab Shivdasani is an Indian actor and producer. He made his cinematic debut as a child actor in Mr.India. As an adult, he appeared as the lead in Ram Gopal Varma’s Mast in 1999, for which he was nominated for Best Debutant at Zee Cine Awards. Career After having made his breakthrough as a child artist in Mr.India, Aftab Shivdasani appeared in age appropriate roles in movies like Shahenshah and Awwal Number. He stepped into the spotlight as an adult with a lead role in Ram Gopal Varma’s Mast, opposite Urmila Matondkar. It won critical acclaim and was declared a runaway success. Aftab Shivdasani bagged the Zee Cine Award and Star Screen Award for Best Newcomer that year. His next movie cast him as a villain in Vikram Bhatt’s Kasoor. It reaped accolades, with Aftab Shivdasani again feted for his role. He picked up another Zee Cine Award for Best Actor In A Negative Role. In Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega, Aftab Shivdasani’s performance, as part of an ensemble cast, was well liked. The movie, though, didn’t do well. A lean patch for Aftab Shivdasani yielded three successive flops in 2002. The streak was only broken by the measured success of the multi-starrer, Awara Pagal Deewana. He repeated the trick by appearing in other successful multi-starrers in 2003, like Darna Mana Hai and Priyadarshan’s Hungama. 2004 was again an unproductive year for Aftab Shivdasani, with only the marginal success of Masti to salvage. With no box office hits for two years, Aftab Shivdasani enjoyed a brief upswing with multi starrers in 2007 and 2008, like Dus Kahaniyaan and Money Hai Toh Honey Hai. He even made a guest appearance in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om. Aftab Shivdasani had supporting roles in Kambakht Ishq and Acid Factory in 2007. Soon, he unveiled his first home production, Aao Wish Karein. His last successful film at the box office was the sequel to the 2004’s Masti called Grand Masti in 2012. Personal Life Aftab Shivdasani was born to a Hindu Sindhi father and a Parsi mother in Mumbai in 1975. He attended HR College as an undergraduate and was still a student there when he was offered the lead role in Mast in 1999. Aftab Shivdasani married Nin Dusanj in 2014.
