Chairman of Yash Raj Films (YRF), India’s most popular and huge entertainment banner, Aditya Chopra is a three-time National Award winner. The producer, director and writer is best known for directing the trendsetter and blockbuster film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Aditya Chopra is the eldest son of India’s most iconic filmmaker Yash Chopra and Pamela Chopra. His younger brother Uday Chopra is a film actor and producer. Chopra started out his career by assisting his father Yash Chopra for films like Chandni (1989), Lamhe (1991) and Darr (1993). In the year 1990 he started working on the script of his first solo directorial film Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. It was only in 1995 that he completed the film and released it under the Yash Raj banner. The film was a huge success and is still considered one of the biggest hits in Indian films of all time. Chopra won a National Award and 3 Filmfare awards for direction, screenplay and dialogues for the same. Chopra also penned down the story and dialogues of the 1997 blockbuster Dil to Pagal Hai. He penned the story for Mohabbatein (2000), which was his next big directorial venture. His last directorial venture was Rab Ne Bana di Jodi (2008), all three movies with actor Shah Rukh Khan playing the lead. In his career spanning over two decades he has donned many hats such as of a director (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Mohabbatein and Rab Ne Bana di Jodi), producer (Dhoom 3, PK), writer (Salaam Namaste, Fanaa, Chak De! India) and distributor of Hindi films. He is mostly known for his directorial ventures Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Mohabbatein (2000) and Rab Ne Bana di Jodi (2008) and writing blockbusters like Dil to Pagal Hai (1997), Veer Zaara (2004), Bunty Aur Babli (2005), Salaam Namaste (2005), Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Dhoom 3 (2013). Chopra won the Asian filmmaker of the Year Award in 2009 for the story of New York (2009). Aditya Chopra is the Chairman of Yash Raj films and has been working on producing the greatest films of the Indian Film Industry ever since he began his career. He established the Yash Raj studios in 2005 which went on to be a breakthrough for the production houses in India shooting films outside their own banner as well. Recently, he announced his next directorial project, Befikre (2017). He was married to Payal Khanna for a long time till their divorce in 2009. In 2014, he married actress Rani Mukerji and the couple is expecting their first child in January, 2016.
