After rising to fame with the dark comedy Delhi Belly, Abhinay went on to direct the action thriller Force, thus establishing his mettle as a filmmaker. Born to actors actors Ramesh and Seema Deo, Abhinay was exposed to the industry at a very young age. His brother Ajinkya Deo is also a director. After getting a degree in architecture, Abhinay worked as director for commercials before shifting to films. His directorial debut was Game (2011), an action thriller film starring Abhishek Bachchan, Kangana Ranaut, Shahana Goswami and Jimmy Shergill. However the film didn’t do well at the box office. His second venture, Delhi Belly (2011), was produced by Aamir Khan Productions and starred Imran Khan and Vir Das among others. It was a super hit at the box office and the songs and quirky humour made it immensely popular among the youth. He won the Filmfare Award for the Best Debut Director 2012 for Delhi Belly, Star Guild Award for the Best Debut Director 2012 for Delhi Belly, ITA Award for Best Director – Drama (2014). Later he directed the TV show 24 (2013) which aired on Colors and became very popular among audiences. Abhinay bagged the Indian Telly Jury Award for Best Director (2014) for 24. His upcoming project is Force 2 (2016), the sequel to the 2011 film Force, starring John Abraham. He also earned a nomination for the Filmfare Award for the Best Director and BIG Star Most Entertaining Director. Currently, he lives in Mumbai.
