Akkineni Sreekar Prasad is a National award winning film editor in Indian cinema. With a career spanning over three decades, he is responsible for some of the best edited films. Born to film editor Akkineni Sanjeevi, Sreekar Prasad graduated from literature in Chennai University. He has given contribution to Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and English films. He received training in film editing from his father who has been into editing of Telugu films. Sreekar started out with Telugu films and progressed in this field through Malayalam and Tamil films.Some of the notable editing works of Sreekar Prasad in regional films include Nirnayam, Vaanaprastham (1999), Alaipayuthey (2000), Kannathil Muthamittal (2002), Okkadu (2003), Aayitha Ezhuthu and Yuva (2004), Navarasa (2005), Athadu (2005), Pazhassi Raja (2009), and Thuppakki (2012). Sreekar has made contributions to several other films like Finding Fanny (2014), Cocktail (2012) and Kaminey (2009). Sreekar has received National Film Awards in the year 1989 for Best Editing in film Raakh, year 1997 for Best Editing in film Rag Birag, year 1998 for Best Editing in film The Terrorist, year 2000 for Best Editing in the film Vaanaprastham, year 2002 for Best Editing in the film Kannathil Muthamittal, year 2008 for Best Editing in the film Firaaq. He also received Filmfare Awards in the year 2002 for Best Editing in the film Dil Chahta Hai. Sreekar was ranked in the Limca Book of Records as People of the Year for his vast contribution to Indian Cinema in several languages and achievement of getting eight national awards along with a Special Jury Award. His future projects include films like Wazir (2015) and Taramani (2015).
